How to Check and Maintain a Sediment Pre Filter Cartridge

September 26, 2026

The external sediment pre-filter is the first barrier against visible mud, sand, rust and suspended particles. Its condition can provide a quick visual indication of how much sediment is entering the system.

Weekly inspection and cleaning

Follow the current manufacturer guidance for your cartridge and housing. Close the water supply, release pressure safely, remove the housing with the correct tool and check the O-ring before reassembly. Never force damaged threads or operate a leaking housing.

Replacement timing

The stated guidance for the current washable cartridge is weekly cleaning and replacement at around three months. Actual timing can be shorter when source water carries more sediment or household use is high.

Confirm compatibility

Cartridges can differ in length, diameter and material. Send a clear photograph of the existing cartridge and housing through WhatsApp before ordering a replacement.
